In this business unit, we are working to tackle the business issues customers are dealing with by providing services and new added value.

Digital multifunctional printers
Digital multifunctional printers

Digital multifunctional printers (MFPs) focus on the processing of digital photographs, and combine mechatronics technologies whose principal function is paper delivery control, chemical technologies such as photoreceptors and toners, and software technologies that realize superior print performance and compatibility. Japanese companies dominate the market for MFPs.

Sharp MFPs are installed at approximately 30,000 convenience stores around Japan and provide various service content, including the network printing service. With the spread of “new-normal” workstyles, where more and more people utilize hybrid or satellite offices that allow them to combine or choose between working from home or on-site, there is expected to be an increased demand in urban areas for printing services for business purposes.

Digital signage
Digital signage

These days, digital signage—systems for disseminating information via image devices—can be seen everywhere in towns and cities.
With digital signage, there is no need to replace billboards or posters every time the displayed content is changed. Instead, it can be changed easily and in a timely fashion, and it is also possible for users to manipulate the content by touching the screen, or display in multiple languages for visitors from overseas.
In addition to LCD displays, Sharp has a variety of display devices such as ePosters and projectors, and we provide support for the transmission systems of all these devices.

We have inherited the ambition of the Sharp Corporation’s founder, Tokuji Hayakawa, to “Make products that others want to imitate,” and have a tradition of taking on challenges. With communication technologies at the heart of our business, we have released a succession of products and technologies that were firsts for the industry, Japan, and the world, such as the first cell phone with an integral camera and the first with a color LCD screen.
Based on our business vision of changing the world with 8K + 5G and AIoT, in addition to communications, we utilize state-of-the-art technologies such as AI and sensing, and we will grow our business while making new proposals, and aiming to create the next step for smartphones.

Making connections anytime and anywhere
Making connections anytime and anywhere

The market scale of the satellite services field in the global market is expanding. With more and more countries working in outer space and the fact that commercial activities are flourishing there, this market is expected to grow to 100 trillion yen by 2040. In Japan, the main reasons for this are the spread of infrastructure toward regions in which it has yet to be established, and the maintenance of communications infrastructure at times of accident or disaster. These are the circumstances in which we are developing satellite communication antennas, and with the fusion of next-generation communication technologies, we will realize our goal of connecting people anytime, anywhere, and in any context.
