2006年春からのワンセグ放送サービスに合わせて，横長のコンテンツが見やすいサイクロイドタイプのワンセグ携帯電話機の開発を行った。この機種に合わせてサイクロイド機構を新たに開発するとともに，「AQUOSケータイ」と呼ぶにふさわしい画質にこだわった。さらに，2006年秋には液晶を大きくし，薄くした第2世代機の開発を行った。今後，さらに大画面液晶の採用，低消費電力化，薄型化，高画質化を推進し，ワンセグ携帯をより使いやすいものにして更なる普及に貢献していきたい。
With the launch of one-segment broadcasting service in the spring of 2006, we commercialized the cycloid-type mobile phone supporting one-segment broadcasting, which is suitable for TV-like contents. The cycloid mechanism is newly developed for this model and we focused on getting high quality image so that we can name the handset “AQUOS Mobile Phone”. In the fall of 2006, we have developed the following thinner model with the larger size LCD. For more widespread use, we will achieve easier-to-use “One Seg” mobile phones by using technology of large screen LCD panel, lower power consumption, reduction of the thickness, and high quality image.
