本稿ではドキュメントシステムのハードの中心をなすマーキングプロセスについて，その技術的課題と動向について述べる。まず初めに，これまでのマーキングプロセスについて歴史をたどりながら，ドキュメント技術の大きな流れについて触れる。その後に今後のマーキング技術の課題と動向について述べ，代表事例として電子写真方式とインクジェット方式に絞って議論を展開する。
両プロセスとも市場での認知を受け，市場を二分しているが，夫々に長短があり課題を残している。その課題が今後の技術開発課題であり，その方向性について触れる。
This paper provides technological trends and challenges with particular emphasis on one of the cores of Document System, Marking Process. First, by reviewing the history, we introduced some outstanding technologies of the marking process. And then, we presented the future trends and challenges of the marking technology, focusing on Electro Photographic Printing system and Ink Jet Printing system as the two typical examples. Despite their advantages and disadvantages, both process have been growing to become current mainstreams in the market. We proposed future direction of the improving current disadvantages by addressing difficult marking process challenges and potential solutions.
