出力画像に対する高画質化への要求が高まっており，ディジタル電子写真機器においては，印字解像度が600dpiから1200dpiへ高度化する傾向にある。
本稿では，1200dpi画像形成に関わる潜像，現像，転写，定着に至る電子写真各プロセスに対し，理論解析及び実験検証を行い，1200dpi画像を実現するための技術課題と設計指針を明らかにした。そして，得られた指針に基づき，各プロセスの最適化設計を図ることにより，1200dpi画像形成が可能となった。
On a demand for higher-quality printout, the resolution of Digital Electrophotography Device has been advancing from 600dpi printing to 1200dpi.
We have cleared main design parameters on each image forming process (Latent-image, Developing, Transfer and Fixing) by many computer-simulations and experimental testings. Finally, we have optimized each process of 1200dpi image forming technology to perform 1200dpi printings.
